YouTube's Image Experiment on Shorts

Image Posts in Shorts Feed could change the posting game
YouTube has been trying to be a little bit more like other social media as they encourage you to use their Community Post, while giving more surface area.
If you're not sure what "surface area" means, think of it as reach in analytics. When you see videos in your Home page, or in search, or in suggestions, those are considered surface area.
The first that we've seen is with showcasing posts in your Home page. π

Next, YouTube added the option to turn your Community Post into Communities, where your fans can add their own posts.
Now, they're launching (yet another) experiment, but this time, it's for showing image posts in the Shorts feed.
Thank you to Roberto Blake for the pic!
YouTube hasn't made it clear whether image posts will only show up in the Shorts feed if you create it through the YouTube app or if it'll also appear when you post via desktop.
But this is what they wrote:

Creators: All image posts created through the βCreateβ button may be shown in the Shorts feed during this test.
Interestingly, YouTube is considering exploring music with this experience. So not only will you be able to tell a story through image posts, you can bring it to life with music.
There's been an interesting shift in using image posts.
Instead of posting texts and then some images to accompany it, some creators are adding texts into the image and using that to grab your attention and time.
This isn't only just happening on YouTube, it's also happening on other social media platform like Threads, Instagram, or Bluesky.
An example of a creator using texts in images.
Bright colors and/or pretty images attract your gaze, while the texts are here to make you stay on the creator's post a lot longer.
These can be easily made with Adobe Express or Canva because of the amount of templates you can select from. And once you got the right style for you, save that as a template so you can reuse it.
Let us know if you've tried this style of posting and how it's going for you!
