This UPDATE Might Be Your Next YouTube Advantage!

BIG CHANGE to YouTube's advanced analytics!

As creators, we all know how important analytics are when it comes to the quality of our videos and SEO. It can pump us up or bring us down. Sometimes, it can even make us rack our brain like "What the heck are all these numbers suppose to mean??"

This is especially if you're using (or trying to use) YouTube's advanced analytics. Although it can be a great help, it can often be daunting for creators. Which is why YouTube is making changes in order to help you better understand your videos and make it easier to navigate.

This update has been rolling out to all creators, so check if you've already gotten it or not!

If you get this update, you'll notice that the tabs at the top are now on the side with multiple pickers. The tabs at the top will be replaced by a single Report tab, which you can click on to choose popular reports or saved reports.

Yes, this means you can control what analytics you want to see AND save it so you don't have to redo it every time.

Check out the full video of the update below, and remember to give YouTube feedback!

Audience segments is launching to all creators over the next few weeks!

When you check your analytics in YT Studio, you may see a change in the audience tab. YouTube is replacing the "Return viewers" metric with a new metric called "Audience by Watch Behavior." This segments your videos into three categories: New viewers, Casual viewers, Regular viewers.

  • New viewers is simple enough to understand.
  • Casual viewers are those who have been watching occasionally between 1 - 5 months within the last 12 months.
  • Regular viewers are people who have been watching consistently for more than 6 months within the last 12 months.

If you've been on YouTube enough, you'll know that there are channels you'll watch from time to time compared to channels you'll watch the moment they upload.

YouTube is now categorizing how you view these channels so that creators can have a better nuance of their audience.

Leaderboard for top fans is now available to all creators!

This was one of YouTube's many experiments, but due to positive feedback, they're now rolling this out to all creators (who can livestream).

The name is self-explanatory. When you join a livestream chat, you'll notice some people will have a number badge next to their name. These people are considered the top 3 fan.

On top of the chat, you'll see a crown icon along with some numbers. This is your XP. If you click on it, it'll show you the Top Fans Leaderboard.

Alternatively, if you're looking at the chat replay, it'll say "Top Fans" at the top right corner instead.

Everyone is automatically enrolled into this, but you can choose to opt-out if you don't want to participate. The same goes for creators who don't want to have the leaderboard during their livestream.

Note: Only viewers aged 18 and over are eligible in participating in the leaderboard. This is because you can earn additional XP via Gifts, Super Chats, and Super Stickers.

YouTube is experimenting with AI-powered search results, similar to AI Overview in Google.

When you search up a query in YouTube, such as "Best noise-cancelling headphones," the new AI-powered search results will show you a carousel highlighting clips from videos showcasing reviews of noise-cancelling headphones. It'll also generate an AI description of the video and provides you video suggestions to watch.

This is similar to how Google's AI Overview works where it takes related segments of relevant websites and condenses it down for you.

What does this all mean? Proper captions and chapters are becoming more and more important. By providing the details to YouTube, it'll allow them to place your videos in the right area.

If you're a premium member in the US, you can test out this new tool with the link below.

A RARE clarification about misinformation about the new YouTube update... from YouTube itself.

YouTube is making a minor update in their YPP policy to help better identify spam content. However, some people are misunderstanding this as YouTube cracking down on 'unoriginal' content, which would include reaction channels, compilation pages, and more.

YouTube corrects this on X. They're looking at spam content—ones that are mass-produced or repetitive. These type of contents have been ineligible for monetization for years.
