Caught in the feels? Here comes YouTube with the ads!

YouTube's new ad format might boost ad revenue... and break immersion.

On May 21st, YouTube announced their newest ad format called Peak Points. This format uses Google's Gemini AI to analyze a video's peak, whether that's the highest engagement or has the most emotional impact, and places an ad after it.

For creators, this sounds pretty good. More viewers seeing ads means more ad revenue! Especially if viewers are jumping directly to the peak point.

For viewers... this might disrupt the moment. It could even ruin the moment, causing frustration to the viewers.

So here's a question: How would you feel if you're watching a video from your favorite creator, only to be hit with an ad right after their most emotional moment?

Then there's the fact that an AI is going to check to see the place with the most emotional impact. This could be good, or the AI could be entirely incorrect in its analysis. We'll just have to see as YouTube rolls this format out to more creators.

YouTube Shorts is getting two new updates.

The first one is a visual guide for the Shorts Editor. This is only available on the YouTube mobile app.

With this guide, you'll be able to see the area you shouldn't place your captions. This will help with misplaced text that'll get covered by the title, the side icons, and more.

If you don't use the Shorts Editor, you can search for free Shorts UI overlay guides on Google. Or, take a screenshot of a Shorts and use that as your guide.

The second one is Quiz Stickers, also only available on iOS and Android.

YouTube has been adding variations of stickers for you to use in your Shorts, and now they're adding in Quiz Stickers.

This is great for educational channels, especially those who already have been using the quiz feature in their community post.

You'll be able to see the percentage of people who voted in the Quiz Sticker, same as you would with Poll Stickers.

YouTube has a Podcast chart now! Check it out!

Head over to https://charts.youtube.com/podcasts to see the weekly top podcast shows on YouTube.

Currently, it may only show for the United States, but if you're from outside of the US and see the chart in your country, let us know!

Might this correlate with YouTube's newer feature: Hype? Considering Hype will have its own weekly chart.

Either way, we hope to see this chart be expanded to different categories as well and that YouTube would point to this chart more. If YouTube doesn't tell people about this, then how will anybody know?
