YouTube Tools You Might’ve Missed (But Shouldn’t)

50MB thumbnails and Super Resolution are coming to YouTube!
A big complaint when it comes to thumbnails was that you could only upload up to 2 MB. This meant thumbnails couldn't get any clearer than 720p.
However, with the rise of YouTube TV, the next logical step was to allow people to upload 4K thumbnails (up to 50MB!) so that it'd look amazing on the big screen. No more having to downscale your thumbnails!
YouTube says it's coming soon... which usually mean they're experimenting it in small batches before expanding in to more creators.
Custom thumbnails for Shorts... still unknown.
AI-powered upscaling for lower resolution videos are launching to creators. The goal is to turn SD videos to HD with plans to support 4K in the future.
So for one, it's good that YouTube made an announcement about Super Resolution. Unfortunately, they're not doing a great job by having a completely separate name for the settings.
Just in case: Super Resolution = Video quality enhancements.
But if you don't want your low-res videos to be upscaled via AI, you can opt-out of this through the settings on YouTube Studio.
You can now check paid vs organic metrics in your YouTube analytics!
Before this update, you weren't able to check your views, subs, comments (and more) were from an unpaid or paid source.
Now that you can, it'll help you make data-driven decisions on whether they want to grow organically or use YouTube's promote tools.
However, will advertising hurt your channel's organic performance?
According to YouTube: No.
Your video's organic and paid performance does not impact each other as they are two separate processes.
Organic metrics are based on "word of mouth," so it's more reliant on your video's watch time, engagement, and audience retention. While paid metrics are determined by the budget and targeting settings.
YouTube experiments with the ability to fix your video if you have a community guideline warning!
Last year, YouTube's been working on a feature that allows you to edit your video if it got age-restricted or a community guideline removal.
If YouTube approves the new edit, your video will be reinstated and the violation removed.
Now, YouTube's expanding this to warnings! This means you won't have to wait until you get a strike to make an edit.
However, you must meet certain criteria (and you also need to be a part of the test):
Limited to creators who have access to advanced features
Can only submit 1 fix per video
Not available for certain Community Guideline violations
If you meet the criteria, you should see the option to revise your content in YouTube Studio. Let us know if you've got the chance to test this feature out.
Edit with AI will be available to most creators in the coming week!
Edit with AI is YouTube's latest feature inside the YouTube Create app (also accessible through the Shorts camera in the main YouTube app).
We all know that getting started can be the hardest part. Whether that's figuring out what footage to use, where to place it, or what music fits best... that first draft takes time.
This is where Edit with AI steps in to help. At least, what YouTube says it will.
If you're interested in trying out this new feature, download the YouTube Create app and let us know what you think!
